Stunt Performer Spotlight: Mathieu Bolillo

Featured Interview With Stunt Performer, Mathieu Bolillo.

Tell about yourself and your connection to stunts!

I started gymnastics when I was 8 and since then - I never stopped doing it and creating acrobatic moves.  I knew immediately that being an acrobat would drive my life and become a passion.

I  got the chance to become a performer 16 years ago with an opportunity that changed my life: performing for Cirque du Soleil in Las Vegas. This huge step and experience made me wanna create something on my own so I decided to develop a unique act and to explore the world with it.

On the side, becoming a stuntman appealed to myself as I am always challenging my own limits.

"I only want my work to make people happy" - Jackie Chan

What inspired you to become a stunt person?

What inspires me the most is the mix between the risk and the beauty of motions.

What is your greatest skill as a stunt performer, is there a story behind it?

My greatest "signature" skill is performing a handstand on top of a car roof while the speed is at 30mph.

I was with my friends in the south of France when I  got this crazy vision of doing it at the moment,  So I told them the idea and their reaction was, "you are crazy... but let's do it!"  Spontaneously, 5 minutes later, it happened!

I'm also passioned by the handstand and balance.  I'm a handstand master and I always use the handstand to find the balance in life.  You can check my website "Balance Your Life" [] for the people who want to try, work and progress on their handstand because you will always need in acrobatics and stunts, a balance and an inverted balance during sets and shootings!

What is the best part about being a stunt performer?

The best part of this occupation is that I can make my passion a living and I consider myself a lucky person.

What advice would you give other stunt people?

The advice I would tell to other stunt people is: "be balanced on your craziness."
