Featured Interview With Stunt Performer: Jasper Pendergrass Jr

Tell about yourself and your background! *

My family is from Hartsville, SC and my parents moved to Washington, DC  before I was born.  I was raised in southern Maryland (Ft. Washington.)  I am the middle kid of 5, my parents had 3 boys and then 2 girls.  I attended the University of Richmond on a football scholarship.   I have been SAG for 23 years now.

What inspired you to become a stunt performer?

I love being able to turn imagination to life.

What is your greatest skill as a stunt performer, is there a stunt behind it?

My great skill as a stunt performer is the ability to learn on the fly with different choreo actions.

What is the best part about being a stunt performer?

The best part of being a stunt performer is being able to bring life/action to a story.

Tell your all-time favorite stunt story!

My all-time favorite stunt story was being a part of the Black Panther franchise.  Being a part of that award winning stunt ensemble was a blessing and it was truly an honor.   Helping bring the action to life and watching it on the big screen truly filled my heart with pride.

What advice would you give other stunt performers?

Train!  I still have a lot to learn.  I constantly look to learn new skills on a daily basis.

Anything else you'd like to tell the community about?

I work hard and I'll always give it all I have for the success of the team.
