Stunt Performer Spotlight: Greg Fredo

Featured Interview With Stunt Performer: Greg Fredo

Tell about yourself and your background! *

I started in martial arts when I was 10 years old under the Shotokan system when I was 16 I got my black belt and I got my first street fight with a boxer. He destroyed me everything that I was trying to do wasn't working at that time I was living in Greensburg Pennsylvania I got so upset losing that fight that I started investigating my instructor and found out that he had no license or no certificates at all I lost all my confidence that's probably the reason that I'm so passionate about training my Fighters now because I know after what I've been through that my system works in the street. Shortly after that fight I scraped up all the money I could and I move to Los Angeles and signed up under Bruce Lee Studios IMB Academy in Carson California I was a student under Richard Bustillo and then after that I was trained by Danny Inosanto, Bruce Lee's first student, finally I knew I was being trained by legitimate trainers and Fighters I moved from Los Angeles  in98 and started training at Mayweather's gym because as you know most MMA fighters lack boxer skills, so I threw myself into the hardest gym in the world and came out on my feet I was taken in by Floyd Mayweather senior Rodger Mayweather and Jeff Mayweather they ended up training me so I've been blessed in my life to learn from such great instructors. That's what makes me so passionate about what I do. I'm trying to keep their teachings alive. As far as stunt training the only experience I've had was with Brandon Lee and the movie rapid fire we went over some mitt work and some techniques for the movie as he was his own stuntman.

What inspired you to become a stunt performer?

Brandon Lee working some of the techniques and some of the pad drills with him and seeing them on film afterwards got me all fired up about stunt work. I haven't done anything since then but I'm hoping for more opportunities in the future

What is your greatest skill as a stunt performer, is there a stunt behind it?

All my life I've emulated Bruce Lee and I've got the JKD system down to a science

What is the best part about being a stunt performer?

Watching the results when it's all finished
